Thank you for taking the to help support this incredible family! Jess has now been out of work for 5 months while she focuses on her recovery, so every donation truly makes a HUGE impact!

Update

While Jess continues to work hard in therapy and improving each week, she has certainly had her share of setbacks. The latest being that she fell while getting out of the shower, or as she calls it “a slow slide down to the floor”. Jess was getting out of the shower when she got a little dizzy and tried to sick back down onto her shower chair. Unfortunately, she missed the chair and then hit her hip/thigh on the side of the tub on the way down. Of course it was her already weakened right side that she fell on. There does not appear to be any major injury because of this fall, but it has slowed her down. Not to mention the nasty bruise…. it looks bad to me! Jess may be in quite a bit of pain but she continues to push herself and work hard in all of her therapies!

Thank you to everyone who has supported her journey to get healthy!

PS- if you want better updates on Jess’ progress (because I certainly do not do the best job) make sure you are following her on Facebook or Instagram :-)

**UPDATE**

Jess recently found out she did NOT have a TIA, but instead something called a cryptogenic stroke. Being that her symptoms post stroke have lasted so long, that alone eliminates a TIA having happened. A TIA is a small stroke that typically causes minimal damage with symptoms lasting only a briefe time. This does not change her treatment plan at all, but is a very important diagnosis to help prevent this from happening again and assure that Jess is on the proper medication.

Additionally, on December 5th Jess was sent to the ER after a doctors visit. She had been vomiting, having extreme nausea, and upper right abdominal pain. Thankfully they were able to help get her a little more comfortable without having to admit her. Based on her symptoms and scans, the doctors are concerned about the health of her liver. Currently her liver is still functioning properly but they are monitoring that closely while they evaluate her for something called NASH wich is part of NAFLD or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

On a positive note, Jess is kicking butt in therapy and making HUGE progress! Thank you to those who have donated so far. We know Jess, Kevin, and the family will appreciate it greatly!

Jess recently suffered a stroke as a result of complications from lupus which caused inflammation in her bain. As many of you know, Jess has always been a selfless and dedicated advocate, supporting others in their times of need offering her time, energy, and resources to uplift everyone around her. Jess has touched countless lives through her work, but she would never ask for help herself, which is why we're stepping in to ask on her behalf. It is also why we ask that you not share this publicly on social media please (or if you do please block them). We plan to surprise Jess and the family with your generosity.

Right now, Jess is facing a challenging recovery journey. She currently cannot walk without assistance, and her right side is not functional. Outside of her mobility issues, she has some inflammation in the occipital lobe of her brain as well as an enlarged liver and spleen. Her husband, Kevin, has had to take substantial time off work to care for her and ensure she can attend her appointments, therapies, etc. but this unexpected time off has added a significant financial strain.

With Your Help We Can Reach Our Goal!

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to help cover the costs of Jess's medical needs, mobility aids, and living expenses during this recovery period. If you don’t already know, Jess is a powerful motivational speaker and domestic violence advocate, however that is all paused while she focuses on healing.

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference in her journey back to health. Thank you for showing Jess the same kindness and generosity she has shown to others.
